The Samsung LN32A450’s gamma curve is plotted in black while the blue line represents the line we test against. The LN32A450 shares the same selection of advanced picture settings as the higher-end plasma TVs. The Samsung LN32A450 32 inch high definition LCD TV has a classy gloss black modern design. The speakers are smartly hidden which adds to the sleek design.
The Samsung LN32A450 features a total of three HDMI connections, including two rear HDMI inputs as well as a side input, so making the switch between gaming consoles or other HDMI-supported devices is as easy as can be. We were further pleased with the rest of the connectivity options with this 32-inch LCD set, from its two rear component inputs, one rear A/V input with composite, side S-Video input and VGA PC input, as well as twin RF inputs for antenna and coaxial cable. The Samsung LN32A450 makes fewer compromises than other similarly priced televisions we’ve reviewed. For someone who is looking for a budget HDTV, the LN 32A450 has very good black levels and solid color performance.
Remote
Remote control is great and among other things has hot keys for aspect ratios, picture mode. I am very impressed with the speakers (which you can hardly see) that produce very respectable and clear sound with SRS TruSurround XT. Remote is intuitive and easy to use. It may be shiny and show fingerprints, but those of us who have satellite or cable won’t use the remote except for some set up.
Black
Blacks are really black and whites are truly whites in this TV .something that I could not find in most TVs. With 10,000:1 contrast ratio this Samsung model can’t be beat. Black will never again appear grayish. Black details will show in vivid black even in dark scenes.
Connected
Connectivity and features are also rich for an LCD TV at this price, including four HDMI inputs and tons of picture controls and special modes. Even picture-in-picture — growing increasingly rare in sets regardless of price point — is included. Connection via satellite box was a snap via the plug and play option. I would encourage visiting Samsung’s website for the TV’s firmware updates.
Colors
Color accuracy is as important as blacks to my eye. Also, my next set will be 60″ or more next time around. Color accuracy was magnificent as well as the video processing. I was also pleasantly surprised of the picture quality on Standard Definition channels.
